About
Legacy Children's Foundation (LCF) was started in 2011 at the request of at-risk teenagers who recognized the need for after-school resources to graduate AND become productive, engaged citizens to lead our community. LCF assists diverse teens in their desire to become educated, thriving citizens with sound character and civic responsibility to improve the quality of life for the least, the lost, and the lonely. No child is left behind and every student succeeds! LCF student population is highly concentrated with minority, low-income secondary students who lack critical resources to become successful, productive leaders. Using personalized instruction in small group settings that cultivate healthy relationships, LCF leverages community resources to provide after-school resources for disadvantaged teens. Academic Coaching after school is provided at all Fargo middle schools (public and private) by aspiring students in the field of education from local universities. Homework completion, study skills, goal setting, organization, and academic stamina are key components of this shoulder to shoulder, personalized learning between future teachers and struggling students. Additional activities such as Job Shadowing and community service allow students to explore careers and be engaged as valuable members of our community. LCF is proud to run the only student organized and operated Food Pantry and Bicycle Repair Shop in the region. Students open their ''shops'' each week from the LCF homesite to provide food for hungry members of our community and bicycle repair for kids.
